West Coast Ballet TheaterWest Coast Ballet Theatre
West Coast Ballet Theatre is a semi-professional troupe of the brightest stars and soon-to-be stars from studios and ballet companies throughout the West Coast. Performers range in age and skill level from beginners to professional principal dancers. Ben and Lauri-Michelle Houk, directors of the San Elijo Dance and Music Academy and former principals of the critically acclaimed Pacific Northwest Ballet created the WCBT as a bridge between the armature and professional worlds. WCBT gives aspiring dancers the rare opportunity to perform in professional stage productions in front of general admission audiences and next to professional principal dancers. WCBT's production of the Nutcracker is a spectacular event where nearly 200 cast members perform on stage with dazzling costumes, amazing sets, snow effects, flying fairies, pyrotechnics and a live orchestral performance of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker by the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra. According to Ben Houk "West Coast Ballet Theatre has plans for more grand scale events like the Nutcracker where students get the opportunity to experience live theatre on a grand scale. Watch for more performances to come in the near future!" To contact the West Coast Ballet Theatre, call the San Elijo Dance and Music Academy at (760) 410-1999.
